Kourou-French Guiana: MT Aerospace wins contract for operation and maintenance of launch facilities’ mechanical systems

Successful cooperation with Arianespace continued.

MT Aerospace again signed an important contract for comprehensive service solutions at the European Space Port: from 2012 until 2016, the Augsburg-based aerospace supplier – through its subsidiary MT Aerospace Guyane – will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the mechanical systems of all launch facilities at the Guiana Space Center (CSG) in Kourou/French Guiana. By winning the contract, MT Aerospace continues its long-standing successful cooperation with satellite launch company Arianespace.

Significantly involved in the launch bases’ construction from the very beginning, MT Aerospace Guyane has been responsible for the mechanical service of the ARIANE facilities for more than ten years. In the future, the company will also be in charge of the service for the Soyuz and Vega facilities.

The comprehensive service portfolio includes the operation, maintenance and repair of important mechanical equipment, for example cranes, lifting and access platforms, chassis of the launch pad or large gates of the integration halls and final assembly buildings.

"We are very pleased that once again we were able to convince our customer Arianespace of our competencies", says MT Aerospace COO Dr. Wolfgang Konrad. "After having been involved in the construction of the ARIANE as well as the Soyuz launch facilities, we are very familiar with the systems on site. We consider the contract as a logical continuation of our activities in Kourou."

By participarting in all three launch programmes at the European Space Port, MT Aerospace together with its customer Arianespace wants to tap synergies on site more effectively. Furthermore, the company strives to further extend its competencies in operation and maintenance.
