The successful first launch of the European Ariane 6 launcher is a milestone in MT Aerospace's corporate history. As the largest German supplier, MT Aerospace is responsible for the development, design and manufacturing of the metallic aerostructures of the new European launcher.

MT Aerospace has successfully tested the hydrogen storage and supply system (Hydrogen Fuel System, HFS) developed on the basis of aviation-specific requirements, as part of the overall propulsion system with a fuel cell, for use in commercial aircraft.

After more than 18 years in the role of CEO, Hans J. Steininger will step down from his position as Chairman of the Executive Board on March 31, 2024 and move to the Supervisory Board of MT Aerospace AG and he will remain a shareholder.

The company pays tribute to Mr. Steininger for his many years of dedicated leadership and his significant contribution to the success of MT Aerospace AG.

Partners announce cooperation during the Paris Air Show

Paris, June 19, 2023 – MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer, and aerospace company MT Aerospace are jointly developing a complete liquid hydrogen fuel system for commercial aviation. The partners announced the project today at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. The first application will be MTU’s Flying Fuel Cell™.

Under the PHOEBUS contract, demonstrators of the new upper stage made of ultra-light fiber composite materials will be developed and tested 

Bremen, November 02, 2022 - MT Aerospace AG has signed a contract worth 35 million euros with ArianeGroup GmbH for the further development of demonstrators for CFRP upper stages of European launch vehicles. ArianeGroup with MT Aerospace were awarded the contract by the European Space Agency (ESA) to continue the development of the PHOEBUS (Prototype for a Highly OptimizEd Black Upper Stage) project.

NASA's heavy-lift rocket SLS launches Artemis 1 mission

Augsburg, 29 August 2022. NASA's almost 100-metre-high SLS (Space Launch System) lunar rocket is ready for the first launch, which is scheduled for 29 August 2022.

European spaceport project HYGUANE for a more sustainable future

Kourou / Augsburg, Germany, July 4th, 2022. The European Space Agency (ESA), the French space agency CNES, MT Aerospace AG (a subsidiary of OHB SE) and a group of European industrial and academic partners joined forces to cut CO2 emissions associated with orbital launches. They intend to establish infrastructure to underpin a hydrogen ecosystem supporting Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. The project HYGUANE (HYdrogène GUyanais A Neutralité Environnementale) aims to establish a pilot plant within the Spaceport capable of producing 130 tons per year of renewable hydrogen, with the goal of dramatically reducing Spaceport greenhouse gas emissions.

Augsburg's traditional aerospace company breaks new ground

Augsburg, 28 April 2022 - "Minister of State Aiwanger visited us at exactly the right time, as we were able to explain to him today what the recently announced order from Amazon for the launch of Kuiper communications satellites with European Ariane 6 rockets means for our company and Augsburg as a space location: stability, security and growth," said Hans Steininger, CEO of MT Aeros-pace AG, summing up the visit.

NASA's return to the moon – with safety-critical structural components from Augsburg-based MT Aerospace for the upper stage of the Space Launch System (SLS)

Augsburg, 17 March 2022 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] and MT Aerospace AG, a subsidiary of OHB SE, have signed a further contract to supply structural components for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS). Boeing is the industrial prime contractor for the development and construction of this heavy-lift launch vehicle, whose first flight is scheduled for spring 2022. Boeing has now commissioned Augsburg-based MT Aerospace with the dome segments for the cryogenic hydrogen tank of the rocket's upper stage EUS (Exploration Upper Stage), thus expanding the existing cooperation between the companies.

Augsburg, 03.03.2022. The Federal Government Coordinator of German Aerospace Policy, Dr Anna Christmann, paid an inaugural visit to aerospace company MT Aerospace AG in Augsburg yesterday. MT Aerospace is a subsidiary of the space and technology group OHB SE.
